Observations requested for eclipsing binary ASASSN-21co

Active Dates: Feb. 10, 2021 – Feb. 10, 2021

Abstract:

Dr. Stella Kafka (AAVSO) requests observers' assistance in monitoring the long period eclipsing binary ASASSN-21co. Observations are requested to begin immediately to capture early features of the eclipse. Continued coverage may be requested after the eclipse is over.

Justification:

The ASAS-SN data shows a significant stellar event. Archival data from KELT suggests a period of 11.9 years with an eclipse duration of ~80 days. Little else is known about this system, so observations will help in understanding its nature.
