The NL/GWLIB star V386 Ser was reported undergoing its first-ever high-amplitude outburst on 18 Jan (http://www.cbat.eps.harvard.edu/unconf/followups/J15472959-0532144.html). Time series of at least a few hours, as frequently as possible, will be valuable for detecting any superhumps that develop over the next several weeks. This object is quite bright, reportedly at V=10.8, so a BSM instrument may be sufficient for the first few days of the outburst, but it will likely experience a number of fades and rebrightenings that will require a larger telescope.
