Proposal

Good evening,

I am proposing that CH Cyg be measured due to the ..." ongoing campaign on CH Cyg for Dr. Margarita Karovska (Harvard-Smithosonian Center for Astrophysics) Current fading events are of particular interest when the system fades most in B. There is not a long history of B observations of CH Cyg, so it is essential to have good coverage in B throughout the fading episode and afterwards..."

I am requesting the B and V filters be used for these if possible. B filter takes priority over everything else.

My proposal would be to measure every 5 days for the next six months. Longer if possible. The target is above the horizon this time of year only for a couple hours before sunrise, so the window of observation is very limited to approximately 3:30am to 5:00am

The telescope that needs to be used will primarily be Hawkins Pond Observatory (HPO).

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Respectfully,

Christopher Colvin

Hawkins Pond Observatory is Arne's private observatory not an AAVSONet observatory (yet?). The magnitude range would fit into the BSMs. Will talk to Christopher.

Note that this has not been approved by TAC yet? Is CH Cyg being observed already?

(4726) Kenneth Menzies — Jan. 10, 2020, 7:41 p.m.

If approved, only need to increase priority of the existing plan on BSM_NH2.

(34230) Christopher Colvin — Jan. 11, 2020, 11:20 p.m.

It was listed on the map, that's why I chose HPO.

Correct that this hasn't been approved yet.

According to the target tool it's been a while since it's been observed.

If this gets approved feel free to increase priority on BSM_NH2.

I'll start looking for another target that doesn't appear to have been observed in some time and submit another proposal.

I see that my proposal was accepted.
Is there a time and date yet that we expect these observations to start?
Could we also please make sure these get sent straight to my VPHOT account?

Thank you!

-Chris

Priority raised to 90, so it should run soon in B;V. It is daily at the moment.

Hi Ken,

Can we verify that the FITS are being sent to my VPHOT? I don't see anything in there at the moment.

My obscode according to my AAVSO profile page is CCHC.

If they aren't being sent to my VPHOT, where can I download them from?

Thank you!

(4726) Kenneth Menzies — Jan. 21, 2020, 7:46 p.m.

Yes, it will be sent to your vphot account. NH2 has been working on b_Per heavily. Also, the time constraint in am makes for problems right now! Let's hope.

Committed to BSM_Hamren as well. Hamren has better eastern horizon. Should work soon?? Check if it is good SNR?

(34230) Christopher Colvin — Jan. 22, 2020, 8:12 p.m.

I'll keep an eye out. Still nothing as of yet.

Thanks for the help!

(34230) Christopher Colvin — Jan. 28, 2020, 3:18 p.m.

Is there a link that I can see the most recent runs on the scopes I'm using?

Still only have one run from last week.

Thanks!
