 The field is uncrowded, and shouldn't be a problem with the BSMs. Since DSCT stars are quite blue, BVI would be possible. That said, you would like a cadence of about 1 minute for good period resolution. I'd probably do V=60 and I=60 exposures, which give about 50 datasets per cycle, and then do a single night time series of at least 4 hours on one BSM for the observer.
