Proposal | NSV 3379 is listed in VSX with no variability type, no period listed and with a report amplitude of only 0.6 mags. In correspondence with Rob McNaught, he believes the amplitude is over 1 magnitude based on nova patrol photographs he's been taking since 2016. In November 2020, I commenced visual observations of NSV 3379 and over the last few months I have not been able to detect significant variability. To clear this matter up and to try and determine the variability type of NSV 3379, I propose to follow the star with one of the Bright Star Monitor telescopes. I propose that one of the BSM telescopes observes NSV 3379 at every opportunity and uses BVIR filters over a period of 3 years which should be sufficient to determine the variability type. |
