Proposal #21

Hello, my name is Sean Costello. I am currently enrolled in an Astrophysics course at Bridgewater State University. As part of this course I have a project to complete, and I have chosen to work with exoplanets, specifically WASP-1b (originally it was WASP -6b, but that turned out to be a poor object to observe this time of year.) I am a member of the AAVSO and would like to request observing time at the Sonoita Research Observatory. My goal for this project is to learn how to use photometry on real data, and if the results are good enough, share them with the exoplanet community through the Exoplanet Database (http://var2.astro.cz/EN/tresca/index.php).
I understand that observing objects that are understudied get first priority for observing time, however, since this is my first exoplanet observation; I thought it wise to choose a subject that is relatively well understood. That way, I can compare my results with others that have been published. With this in mind, I am hoping to be able to obtain data from one or two transits. There will be several visible transits over the next few weeks, and even though we only need one or two, I have provided a list of several dates (see below) to accommodate inclement weather or scheduling conflicts.
