Proposal

In support of the SNEWS Campaign ( https://www.aavso.org/aavso-alert-notice-836 ) I propose that the whole list of 192 stars in the campaign be loaded onto the AAVSOnet.
The concept is to head off multiple plans that will be submitted by various users with little coordination. There are already several.
This is a new "subscription" model of getting users involved:
- The images will be distributed to users that signup in the google sheet:
see the forum post https://www.aavso.org/aavsonet-support-alert-notice-836-and-snews
the google sheet is at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13g_cnZwEbwFDS0Auxo5dDRqOHPgKXjTJRiIZhAMqVr4/edit#gid=876428242
- Users will be treated just like AAVSOnet proposal receivers: responsible for fov and exposure adjustments and moving the data to the AID
Forum posts announcing this project will be aimed at members who don't have scopes but what to learn photometry
- The software to manage the link from googlesheet to the pypline is in final test.
- All present proposals that are pursuing SNEWS targets would be closed and put into this subscription system
- Managing this will be a challenge:
- making sure the project does not monopolize AAVSOnet resources. (Its priority will be just above survey level)
- keeping track of images not subscribed for. These will be pushed to the ftp site under the name 'hq' and I'll work to find people to process
- Dan Zaharevitz has developed a regular report on progress observing the SNEWS stars. This is in coordination with Bert Pablo who will be acting as the PI
- I anticipate a lot of tuning of the plans and the load on the scopes
- The plans would be on two BSM's, one in the North and the other in the South.
- Dan and I will manage the plans and user interaction.
- I'll just put one star in the form below. The full list is in the google sheet mentioned above.
- These stars all have charts and comps supplied by the hard work of the Sequence Team (referenced in the google sheet)
We'll see how this goes!
