Proposal

S Cep was AAVSO LPV of the Month for October, 2016 where its magnitude range (V and Vis) was given as 7.4 - 12.9. VSX and AAVSO Target Tool give the range as 6.3 to 12.5. The AAVSO Target Tool gives the Period = 484.4, which must be the result of averaging or taking the mean of the observations over many years. I don't exactly know where the number comes from. Here is a plot of the period over many years: <http://var.saaf.se/graph/miraocper.php?varname=S+Cep&period=486.84>.

The Target Tool recommends an observation cadence of 10 days.

I eyeballed the most recent Light Curve and estimated the most recent minimum occurred around January 18, 2023. Given the variability it is obviously a very rough estimation, but to try to capture the forthcoming minimum we have to start somewhere.

I note that during the previous minimum the B filter values seemed a little 'sharper' than the V for the purpose of estimating the minimum.

I propose that observations be made of this interesting star using the appropriate AAVSOnet telescope with B and V on the following approximate dates for a cadence of 10 days:

04-23-2024
05-03-2024
05-13-2024
05-23-2024
06-02-2024
06-12-2024

Thanks!

The TAC accepts this proposal but would like to see BVI data taken at a 1-day cadence.

To the TAC: thanks for accepting this proposal! 1-day cadence with BVI is no problem.

Check on exposure with the first set of images

OK, got it, will do!

Hello George and Dirk,

I have not received the first set of images, but I am ready to check them out when I get them, to verify exposure.

Thanks!
