Proposal

Hello, I am interested in observing HDE 226868 for a school astronomy project. Every 5.6 days, it orbits behind Cygnus X1, a black hole. My end goal is to measure the mass of the black hole using the varying brightness. I would like 2-3 hours of 15-20 minute photos a night for 3-5 orbits(15-30 days). My preferred filters are B and V.

I am inexperienced with photometry so if something seems unreasonable please inform me. Thank you for considering this proposal and I hope to hear from you soon.

Kind Regards,
Julian Del Colle(DJUF)

In the VSX the star is referred to as V1357 Cyg, just in case you cant find HDE 226868

The TAC suggests 3x BV every couple of hours rather than a time series.

That works for me.
