Proposal

In support of a Hubble Space Telescope (HST) survey of some 15 exoplanet atmospheres in the near-infrared, amateur astronomers will be providing ground-based observations at the same time as HST’s observations. The first such observation will be of WASP-76 on November 26, 2015. An ideal ground-based observation location for this particular exoplanet transit is deemed to be Western Australia. As such, it is proposed that AAVSOnet’s BSM-Berry location be used in support of this observation. Specifics are as follows:

Object: WASP-76
V-Magnitude: 9.52
Coordinates: RA 01h 46m 31.8s, DEC +02deg 42m 2.00s
Observation Date/Time (UT):
Date (UT): 11/26/15
Time (UT): 10:30-16:12*
*Note: This time period encompasses 1 hour before and 1 hour after the predicted begin and end of the exoplanet transit.
Special imaging requirements: Use of a V filter; other requirements are itemized in a document that can be provided to the observing site’s manager or to the TAC Committee.

Thank you for your consideration.
