Proposal

For several years I have been participating in the Pro-Am campaigns organized by English astrophycist led by Matt Dearnley (Liverpool University) to detect the quasi-annual outburst of the extragalactic nova M31N 2008-12a. This year's outburst is expected to occur between November and early January 2025.

Since my private observatory is currently closed due to technical issues, I am requesting observation time in order to participae in this campaign, both as an individual and as a member of the AAVSO. For this I only need a short series of shots every night when it is possible to observe it in one the AAVSOnet observatory in the northern hemisphere. I suggest using the FSM-SRO50 for this purpose.

A set of 10 x100" exposures per night would be sufficient and would not significantly impact other projects. Since the primary goal of this campaign is to detect the outburst, the use of photometric filters is not necessary, but the images should be calibrated with darks and flats.

SRO-50 is down at the moment but MPO61 and TMO61 are available.

Since both are large diameter telescopes, any of them is perfect. Thank you so much.

Hi Mr. Terrell: I was wondering if there’s any update on when the scheduling for data collection for my proposal might begin. I noticed it’s not listed on the planning sheet for the next three days. I truly appreciate any information you can share. Thank you so much!

(4726) Kenneth Menzies — Nov. 25, 2024, 4:22 p.m.

committed to mpo61 and tmo61.

(4726) Kenneth Menzies — Nov. 25, 2024, 4:23 p.m.

it usually takes up to 2 weeks for final allocation

Thank you very much for those committed telescopes and for the information. Looking forward to obtaining data. Kind regards.
