I follow several RCB type variables and just noticed that the star V381 Lac seems to have gone into a decline. There is only limited observation data in the AAVSO database for this star when it is dimming so I thought it might be worth some observation to try to track its behavior. It is quite dim; my latest estimate has it dimmer than 17.4 V, so I don't know how feasible an AAVSONET observation might be. But I think it should be doable with a larger aperture scope, especially if the scope it is located in a more southern latitude (such as DSO35, for example). The star is still visible in the early evening.

Given the faint magnitude I think unfiltered observations would probably give the best results.

The TAC approves this project but requests that filtered observations be made, at least in V if not VI or VRI to make the data more scientifically useful.
