1747-30 Nova Scorpii 1997 [V1141 Sco]

Active Dates: June 5, 1997 – June 9, 1997

Abstract:

A nova was discovered in Scorpius by William Liller using the PROBLICOM method on June 5.085 UT at magnitude 8.5. Follow-up observations indicated a progressive change in brightness, with spectroscopic observations showing strong and broad H-alpha emission lines.

Justification:

The nova's discovery and subsequent observations provide valuable data for understanding the nature of such celestial events. The observation of H-alpha emission lines is of particular interest for further spectral study.
