1224-22 Supernova 1998bn in NGC 4462

Abstract:

The Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams reported the discovery of supernova SN 1998bn in NGC 4462 by the Lick Observatory Supernova Search team, using the Katzman Automatic Imaging Telescope. Spectroscopic confirmation was obtained by the European Southern Observatory and the Observatorio Nacional.

Justification:

Supernova SN 1998bn provides an opportunity to study a Type Ia supernova about 4 days before maximum brightness.
