1750+18 Supernova 1998bp in NGC 6495
Active Dates: April 29, 1998 – May 1, 1998
Abstract:
Guy Hurst reports the discovery of a supernova by Mark Armstrong in NGC 6495. Unfiltered CCD images showed the supernova at magnitude 14.8 on April 29, 1998. Spectroscopic confirmation established it as a peculiar Type Ia supernova near maximum light.
Justification:
To study the peculiar Type Ia supernova 1998bp and monitor its brightness evolution.
