Supernova 2000ce in UGC 4195 in Camelopardalis

Active Dates: May 8, 2000 – May 9, 2000

Abstract:

Tim Puckett discovered an apparent supernova on May 8.13 UT in UGC 4195 using his 0.35-m automated supernova patrol telescope. The supernova had an unfiltered CCD magnitude 15.0 and its position is 15.1" east and 17.3" north of the center of the galaxy at R.A. = 08h 05m 09.45s Decl. = +66 degrees 47' 15.2" (equinox 2000.0). Comparisons to Palomar Sky Survey images indicate it was not present on images from Mar. 23.23 nor from 1955 Jan. 29 and 1997 Feb. 5.

Justification:

Observation and reporting of the supernova using the provided image and V-adapted comparison stars is requested to further study the phenomenon.
