Active Dates: May 11, 2001 – May 18, 2001
Abstract:
Mike Collins discovered a nova in Aquila at photographic magnitude 10.9 using a 135-mm telephoto lens and Kodak 2415 film as part of the U.K. Nova/Supernova Patrol. The nova was confirmed by N. D. James and identified by the Isaac Newton Group of Telescopes. Observations are encouraged, and charts are available through the AAVSO website.
Justification:
The nova located in Aquila was discovered and later confirmed through spectroscopy and photometric means. Observers are encouraged to report observations to further understand the nova's characteristics and behavior.
