Alert Notice 285: 1750-32 Var Sco 01 - novalike variable in Scorpius [V1178 Sco]

Active Dates: June 21, 2001 – June 22, 2001

Abstract:

Katsumi Haseda discovered a novalike variable in Scorpius using 10-cm f/4.0 twin patrol cameras and T-Max 400 film. The discovery film was measured by Keniti Kadota, and further observations were reported by astronomers including T. Kato, William Liller, Hitoshi Yamaoka, and K. Takamizawa. Observations show the presence of H-alpha and a significantly reddened star.

Justification:

To observe a new novalike variable star in Scorpius and collect photometric and spectroscopic data.
