Abstract:

Discovered by Alfredo Jose Serra Pereira, Nova in Puppis (Nova Pup 2007 = V597 Pup) was first observed on November 14, 2007. The nova's initial magnitude was approximately 7.0 (visual estimate). Later measurements provided slightly different coordinates and magnitudes.

Justification:

Understanding the characteristics and evolution of nova outbursts.
