Nova in Sagittarius
Active Dates: April 21, 2009 – April 21, 2009
Abstract:
A nova was discovered in Sagittarius, subsequently named V5581 Sgr. The discovery was made by K. Nishiyama (Kurume, Fukuoka-ken, Japan) and F. Kabashima (Miyaki-cho, Saga-ken, Japan) on 2009 April 21.711 UTC. The nova reached a maximum magnitude of ~11.7 (unfiltered).
Justification:
The spectroscopy by Kinugasa et al. indicates a classical nova in the decline phase.
