Rescheduled request for observations of V455 AND in support of HST observations

Active Dates: Oct. 5, 2010 – Oct. 23, 2010

Abstract:

As originally announced in AAVSO Alert Notice 423, Dr. Paula Szkody (U. Washington) has requested the help of AAVSO observers in monitoring the WZ Sge-type cataclysmic variable V455 And in support of Hubble Space Telescope ultraviolet spectroscopic observations.

Justification:

The primary purpose of the monitoring is to know whether V455 And is in quiescence; if it is in outburst it will be too bright for the HST instrumentation. The decision whether to go forward with the HST observations will be made the evening of Tuesday, October 12/13, so the nights of October 11/12, 12/13, and 13/14 are the most critical for observations to be reported.
