Abstract:
V834 CAR, also known as Nova Car 2012 or TCP J10502000-6406480, was discovered by John Seach in Chatsworth Island, NSW, Australia. The discovery magnitude was 10.2, captured with a digital SLR and a 50 mm f/1.0 lens on three images. The discovery was made on 2012 February 26.543 UT.
Justification:
Over 3,200 visual and photometric observations of V834 Car have been reported to the AAVSO to date by 11 observers. Regular nightly V averages show the brightness trend falling from 10.4 to 12.2 between March 1 and March 16, 2012.
