AAVSO Alert Notice 489: Nova Delphini 2013 = PNV J20233073+2046041 [V339 Del]

Abstract:

Nova Del 2013 = PNV J20233073+2046041 was discovered by Koichi Itagaki (Teppo-cho, Yamagata, Japan) and reported by S. Nakano (Sumoto, Japan) on 2013 Aug. 14.584 UT with a discovery magnitude of unfiltered CCD magnitude 6.8 using a 0.18-m reflector. Spectra by numerous professional and amateur astronomers show strong H-alpha and H-beta emission and P Cygni profile emission lines indicating a pre-maximum classical nova.

Justification:

The nova is continuing to fade slowly and monitoring is requested until further notice.
