Nova Sgr 2016 No. 2 = ASASSN-16ig = TCP J18010780-2631434

Active Dates: Aug. 2, 2016 – Aug. 11, 2016

Abstract:

A nova was discovered in Sagittarius, identified as ASASSN-16ig or TCP J18010780-2631434, by Koichi Nishiyama, Fujio Kabashima, and the All Sky Automated Survey for SuperNovae (ASAS-SN). The nova was classified as a Fe-II type classical nova based on spectroscopy.

Justification:

Observations of all types (visual, CCD, DSLR, spectroscopy) and all bands as instrumentation permits are strongly encouraged as the nova evolves.
