FO Aqr monitoring requested in faint-state study

Active Dates: May 20, 2020 – Oct. 31, 2022

Abstract:

FO Aqr is an interacting binary star with a magnetized white dwarf that accretes from a low-mass companion star. The campaign aims to study FO Aqr during its low state, which has been observed intermittently since 2016.

Justification:

AAVSO observations to identify periodicities in the light curve to understand FO Aqr's accretion mechanisms and test the hypothesis that FO Aqr's disk dissipates if a low state is deep enough.
