B-band photometry of TYC 2597-735-1 urgently needed

Active Dates: Nov. 19, 2019 – Dec. 19, 2019

Abstract:

Dr. Keri Hoadley (California Institute of Technology) requests AAVSO observers' assistance in obtaining B-band images of the star TYC 2597-735-1 over the next few weeks. This campaign is a continuation of a long-term study to understand the secular dimming of TYC 2597-735-1. Modern B-filter photometry is needed to complete the analysis, as the last data available are from 1989.

Justification:

We have a suspicion that TYC 2597-735-1 is secularly dimming very slowly, and modern B-filter photometry is needed to distinguish between two possible light curve dimming solutions.
