XMM-Newton observing five T Tau stars

Active Dates: Aug. 18, 2020 – Sept. 17, 2020

Abstract:

AAVSO observers are requested to monitor five T Tau stars to support XMM-Newton observations scheduled for the coming months. The study aims to analyze time variability in these stars over several weeks to months, which involves observing stars within the Taurus Molecular Cloud.

Justification:

It is crucial to study the interaction between stars, disks, and stellar flares during the early stages of star formation. Optical data before and after X-ray observations will help to correlate X-ray activity with optical lightcurve phases, potentially providing valuable insights into extinction events and other variabilities.
