Exoplanet transit observation requested for HD 80606
Active Dates: Sept. 22, 2021 – Dec. 7, 2021
Abstract:
Rob Zellem (JPL/NASA’s Exoplanet Watch program) has requested help in observing a transiting exoplanet to help a researcher schedule JWST time. Follow-up observations will narrow JWST’s observing window. The target star is HD 80606, a 9.0 mag (V) star, with the expected transit depth of 11.0ppt, observable from most amateur telescopes. The exoplanet's next observation opportunity is on or around December 7, 2021, from the Northern Hemisphere.
Justification:
Because of the uncertain mid-transit time, follow-up observations will help narrow JWST’s observing window.
