Monitoring b Per eclipse in December 2021

Active Dates: Dec. 16, 2021 – Dec. 30, 2021

Abstract:

High time-resolved observations of the bright star b Persei during the upcoming predicted primary eclipse of the AB inner pair. The mid-eclipse prediction is centered on December 23.4 ± .5 UT. Observation window should last about 2 weeks from December 16, 2021, to December 30, 2021. Observers need to capture time-series observations before, during, and after the eclipse.

Justification:

The b Persei system consists of three stars in a hierarchical system. Observations of the eclipse are needed to calibrate various offsets expected from different observing systems and to reveal potential rotational RV shifts of the A star.
