Supernova in M101 - SN 2023ixf in NGC 5457

Abstract:

A supernova (SN 2023ixf) has been discovered in the galaxy NGC 5457 (M101) by Koichi Itagaki. It has been identified as a Type II supernova based on spectroscopy conducted using the SPRAT instrument on the Liverpool Telescope by D. Perley et al. Observers are encouraged to monitor the supernova’s evolution using various types of observations like visual, CCD/CMOS, DSLR, and spectroscopy in multiple bands.

Justification:

Observing the supernova as it evolves will help understand its behavior and characteristics. Frequent observations in multiple bands can provide valuable data on the rate of decline and other attributes of the supernova.
