AAVSO and SNEWS partner in campaign to monitor bright supernova progenitors
Abstract:
The AAVSO and the SuperNova Early Warning System (SNEWS) team (SNEWS) are partnering to monitor bright potential supernova progenitors. The targets are broadly distributed across the sky and all types of observing may be used, so this exciting campaign offers any interested observer the opportunity to contribute. Details about the campaign and information about targets, charts, comparison stars, observing instructions, and reporting observations to the AAVSO International Database are given on the SNEWS Campaign webpage (https://www.aavso.org/snews-campaign). The specific targets given below are only two of many.
Justification:
Monitoring of bright potential supernova progenitors will provide an extended light curve prior to eruption, which will be extremely valuable in the analysis of the event.

Additional Observer Input:
The specific targets given above are only two of many. Details about the campaign and information about targets, charts, comparison stars, observing instructions, and reporting observations to the AAVSO International Database are given on the SNEWS Campaign webpage (https://www.aavso.org/snews-campaign). Visual observations and/or V (plus other filters) are requested, depending on the amplitude of the star.
