AM Her monitoring requested
Abstract:
Dr. Yukikatsu Terada (Saitama University) requests AAVSO assistance in monitoring the cataclysmic variable AM Her over the coming several months in support of target-of-opportunity observations with the XRISM satellite.
Justification:
AM Her is one of the most important targets to perform the plasma diagnostics of the accretion column in the X-ray band. The XRISM observation of AM Her is approved for the guest observation program from September 2024 for a year. We have to trigger observations in the high state of AM Her in this period.
Requested Data Types:

Comparison Stars:
Finder charts with comparison stars may be created using the AAVSO Variable Star Plotter (VSP, https://apps.aavso.org/vsp).
Co-Authorship
Observers are not eligible for co-authorship.
Additional Observer Input:
Please observe AM Her nightly to every few nights and submit your observations to the AAVSO on a timely basis. If it is seen at 14.5 V or fainter it may be going into its low (faint) state, so please increase observations to several times per night and report observations as soon as possible. CV, TG, and visual observations are also welcome. AM Her has a range of 12.3 - 15.7 V.
Additional Submission Location:

Notes:
Principal Investigator : Dr. Yukikatsu Terada and Dr. Kaya Mori. This campaign ends when the observation of X-ray satellite XRISM is completed (before 31 Aug 2025).
